Kliko presents a new type of compost bin, the Biocom. It is a mobile combination of a 240 litre mini-skip with an advanced compost bin. The annual production of fruit, vegetable garden and houseplant waste from the average family with the average size garden can be composted at home. In principle, the household that uses the BioCom should have no need to put any more of this type of waste out for the bin men. The BioCom enables a major saving on the cost of collecting and processing this waste, making the product interesting to both the householder and the Local Authority. The BioCom reduces the production of waste and therefore has a favourable effect on waste prevention and recycling.
The Kliko BioCom is supplied as a container which can be delivered by any type of waste collection vehicle. It is also provided with a unique aeration system which ensures an adequate supply of oxygen for the micro-organisms which naturally break down the waste. This creates an accelerated aerobic composting process with loss of moisture content, mass and volume. This means that the BioCom can continually be refilled and rarely becomes full. An important advantage is that the BioCom creates very little problem odour. The water created by the decomposition process is entirely environmentally friendly and can be allowed to run away into the garden. After six months the first compost will be ready for use as a garden fertiliser.
